Telekom Austria still interested in Telekom Srbija takeover

14 Jan 2015

Telekom Austria has confirmed that it is still interested in taking over Telekom Srbija despite failing to acquire the company in 2011, Tanjug writes citing comments made by a Telekom Austria spokesperson to Austrian news agency APA. Its interest in Telekom is limited, however, as the company already has a presence in the Serbian mobile market via its VIP Mobile unit. Telekom Austria’s main focus is on acquiring Telekom Srbija’s fixed broadband and telephony business, so that it can transform its operations in the republic into a full service provider, following the same strategy the group has employed in Bulgaria, Croatia and Macedonia.
