All Guinean telecoms licences to be revised in 2015

13 Jan 2015

All Guinean telecoms licences are set to be revised in 2015, according to Agence Ecofin, citing comments by Moustapha Diaby Mamy, the director general of watchdog L’Autorite de Regulation des Postes et Telecommunications (ARPT). The licence revisions will allow operators to introduce new technologies and work towards evolving the country’s poor broadband services.

According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, household broadband penetration sits at just 0.2% in Guinea, with Orange accounting for 54.8% of the 4,650 broadband subscribers, as at 30 September 2014.
