Telekom enlists Comverse for VAS platform overhaul

7 Jan 2015

Telekom Srbija has selected Comverse to modernise its messaging and value added services (VAS) infrastructure into a single fully converged virtualised architecture. Under the terms of their agreement, the US-based vendor will provide its Evolved Communication Suite (ECS) Core and Comverse mVAS technologies, as well as support services. Commenting on the deal, Telekom’s chief technical officer Filip Bankovic said: ‘Unification of all VAS services in a single virtualised environment is a springboard to delivering a superior experience – including compelling new services and capabilities that our subscribers can now find here instead of seeking OTT [over-the-top] alternatives.’ In its press release, Comverse explained that its systems would enable the delivery of popular services such as group chat, as well as voice and video calls over IP.
