Jamaican wireless and fixed line operator Digicel has awarded a contract to IT solutions provider Alepo to deploy its carrier-grade Authentication, Authorization and Accounting (AAA) Server. The solution will support the growing demand for mobile broadband access on Digicel’s 2.5G, 3G and 3.5G HSPA+ networks. Having worked with Alepo at its operations across the Caribbean for five years, Digicel is now upgrading its existing AAA infrastructure in Jamaica to improve performance, reliability and scalability. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, Digicel is Jamaica’s largest cellular operator by subscribers, with 77% of the country’s 2.61 million wireless users at the end of September 2014.
