Movistar Peru, the country’s largest cellular provider by subscribers, has extended services to 1,432 new locations since the renewal of its concession in March 2013, Telecompaper writes. Under the terms of its new licence, Movistar agreed to connect 636 new areas within a year, and 627 in the second year of the licence, with a target of rolling out services to a total of 1,842 new villages. To that end, the Spanish-backed cellco has set out plans to invest USD1.8 billion during the 2014-2016 period.
