Sonera boosts mobile broadband speeds with introduction of LTE-A

16 Dec 2014

Finland’s Sonera, the country’s second largest mobile network operator by subscribers, has boosted downlink speeds via the introduction of LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) technology in partnership with Finnish hardware vendor Nokia Networks. Sonera, part of the TeliaSonera group, announced that the commercial launch of LTE-A has increased theoretical mobile downlink speeds to 300Mbps. Initially, however, the higher connection rates will only be available in certain areas of the capital Helsinki, with Sonera noting that those in the Oulunkyla district in the northern part of the city and in the Roihupelto area in the east will be the first to benefit from access to the network.
