RACSA to shut down residential services in 2015

11 Dec 2014

El Financiero writes that state-owned full service provider Radiografica Costarricense (RACSA) will cease offering internet services to residential users from 2015 as part of a strategic realignment that will see the telco turn its attention towards businesses and government agencies. The new strategy expects to stabilise the loss-making state-owned provider by 2016, with the operator expected to turn a profit in 2017 and 2018. RACSA will also look to expand into other sectors, developing new solutions for the transport, finance and healthcare sectors. A statement from the company noted that these would include the likes of electronic payments on buses and smart meters for water and electricity.
