NCC shuts down unlicensed 5.4GHz activities

11 Dec 2014

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has shut down the operations of four companies that it said had been using the 5.4GHz frequency band without permission. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Steam Communications, Netcom Africa, SwiftTalk and Multi-dimension Technologies, all located in Lagos, have not been licensed by the NCC to operate in the 5.4GHz band. The regulator has confiscated the equipment of the operators and will carry out an investigation into the quartet’s activities.
