Orange Poland trials tri-band carrier aggregation

2 Dec 2014

Poland’s second largest cellular operator by subscribers, Orange Polska, has partnered with Chinese equipment vendor Huawei to carry out the country’s first tests of tri-band carrier aggregation (CA) for 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) services. The trials, which used frequencies in the 800MHz, 1800MHz and 2600MHz bands, achieved peak download speeds of 296Mbps, the cellco said. Orange has been confirmed as one of six bidders in the government’s ongoing sale of 800MHz and 2600MHz spectrum; winning bidders are expected to be announced by the end of the month.
