The business arm of UPC Ireland has launched a next-generation Ethernet service using its recently awarded Carrier Ethernet 2.0 certification from the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF). The company’s press release confirms it is now able to ‘increase end-to-end network reach with improved multi-site connectivity and interoperability for multi-vendor network environments’, meaning a ‘common Ethernet service’ can be offered across all European countries where parent company Liberty Global operates. Vice president of business services at UPC Ireland, Gavan Smyth, commented: ‘In today’s business landscape scalable bandwidth and high-performance networks are essential.’
