Azerbaijan-based WiMAX operator AzQtel, which provides services under the SAZZ banner, is to demonstrate 100Mbps data speed capabilities of 4G Time Division Duplex LTE (TD-LTE) technology at the Bakutel 2014 Telecommunications and Information Technologies Exhibition, according to the Azerbaijan News Network. TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database notes that AzQtel plans to migrate from WiMAX to TD-LTE using its 3.5GHz frequencies and in January 2014 ‘had completed discussions with several equipment vendors’ with the aim of selecting a supplier to roll out the technology nationwide.
