MTN Ghana restores interconnection with Expresso

21 Nov 2014

Ghanaian cellco MTN has reportedly restored its Interconnect Agreement with smaller domestic operator Expresso, local news source Ghana Web reports. As previously noted by CommsUpdate, the market leader blocked incoming calls from Expresso’s network on 1 November 2014 due to ‘uncontrollable circumstances’, prompting the National Communications Authority (NCA) to take steps to mediate the dispute between the two operators. The NCA disclosed that it was monitoring the issue, and would take the appropriate action after a comprehensive review of the situation; it remains unclear why MTN has moved to restore interconnection, however.
