Vodafone Ireland loses 29,000 mobile subscribers, fixed base grows 2.8% in 3Q14

12 Nov 2014

Vodafone Ireland reports its fixed network subscriptions grew by 2.8% since 2Q14 and 7.6% year-on-year (y-o-y) to reach 267,000, also saying mobile data use had risen during the three months ending 30 September 2014 by 17% quarter-on-quarter (q-o-q). However, Vodafone’s Irish arm lost 29,000 mobile users during 3Q14 after the loss of 34,000 mobile subscriptions in 2Q14. While Vodafone has not offered a reason for the loss, the drop in customers was partly offset by an increase in average revenue per user (ARPU), up 2.4% over the quarter to EUR29.3. The operator remains Ireland’s dominant mobile service provider, with around 40% subscriber market share at end-September 2014, amounting to 2.3 million subscribers, 2.1 million of which are mobile subscribers.
