On 7 November 2014 the government of Kiribati, via the State Owned Enterprises Reform Steering Committee, announced a call for pre-qualification to participate in the public tender process for the sale of the assets of Telecom Services Kiribati Ltd (TSKL). The deadline for submission of pre-qualification documents is 1 December 2014.
TSKL is the 100%-government owned national telecommunications company of Kiribati, operating a 2G mobile network recently complemented by 3G and 4G in Tarawa and Christmas Island with a total of about 20,000 subscribers. In addition to mobile broadband and voice, the company offers fixed-wireless WiMAX data services plus ADSL on its fixed telephony network.
The sale of TSKL will be pursuant to a public tender process in which only pre-qualified parties may participate. Successfully pre-qualified parties will be notified in writing by 15 December 2014, and the date for the opening of the price proposals (the auction date) from pre-qualified bidders will be announced no later than 12 January 2015.
