Smart Telecom Uganda launches in Mbale

5 Nov 2014

Uganda’s newest wireless operator, Smart Telecom, has expanded its coverage to the country’s third largest city, Mbale. Smart switched on its first services in the capital Kampala in March this year and has now begun its expansion to other areas of the country. The Ugandan firm, which has sister operations in Tanzania and Burundi, is a partnership between Industrial Promotion Services (IPS) Kenya (a division of the Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development [AKFED]) and Cyprus-based, Russian-owned Timeturns Holdings.
