Costa Rica is set to implement fixed number portability (FNP) by 15 June 2015, TeleSemana writes. The system is to be managed by El Corte Ingles, the same firm which currently handles mobile number portability (MNP) in the country, and the porting process is set to take a maximum of five days. According to sector regulator Sutel, 97% of Costa Ricans use a fixed line, and there are 14 companies offering fixed services, the largest of which is incumbent Grupo Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad (Grupo ICE), which offers telecoms services under the ‘Kolbi’ brand.
