Telekom books 29% increase in H1 profits

Serbian state-backed operator Telekom Srbija, which offers mobile services under the Mobile Telephony of Serbia (MTS) banner, counted a total of 7.9 million users at the end of June this year, up 114,000 compared to the same period of 2013, local news portal Tanjug reports. The operator reported net profits of RSD9.9 billion (USD104. 8 million) for the six-month period, an increase of RSD2.2 billion year-on-year, on operating income of RSD43.2 billion. Telekom registered subscriber growth in all sectors bar the fixed line telephony space, which slumped by approximately 74,000: wireless customers were up by 80,000 y-o-y, whilst IPTV and ADSL subscriptions increased by 71,000 and 37,000.
