(Almost) free music for Sri Lankan mobile users

9 Oct 2014

Dialog Axiata is working with Boinc to bring unlimited access to over 15 million music tracks to Sri Lankan Android smartphone owners. The service has launched as part of Dialog Music, with Boinc available when customers subscribe to a music-enabled data plan or purchase the Dialog Q243 Android smartphone with the professed ‘free-for-life’ service bundled on the device. High quality downloads of local and international music will be available from companies such as Warner Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment and Universal Music Group and under the ‘free-to-me’ model, Dialog subscribers will be able to listen to and share songs both online and offline using the Boinc mobile app. Azwan Khan, COO of Sri Lanka’s largest mobile operator (holding 43.1% of subscriber market share at end-June 2014), said the service provider is ‘excited to add Boinc to Dialog Music, to significantly enhance our digital music service offerings’.

The music data plan is available for LKR197 (USD1.51) per month plus tax, with a free two-day trail being available for a limited time.
