The Netherlands’ largest mobile provider by subscribers, KPN, has seen the number of people using its train station WI-Fi hotspots rise to around 475,000 per month since its launch of the access points a year ago, according to Telecompaper. KPN joined forces with Dutch rail operator, NS, to set up Wi-Fi connection spots at 48 train stations in the country with services launching on 2 September 2013. The source claims users spend an average of 15 minutes connecting via Wi-Fi per session. A reported 71% of the Dutch population has connected to outside Wi-Fi at least once to date, compared to 42% at May 2011.
