TriMob switches off Sevastopol mobile services

1 Oct 2014

TriMob, the 3G mobile network operating division of Ukrainian incumbent national telco Ukrtelecom, has stopped providing mobile services in Sevastopol, following on from the ‘involuntary termination’ of the fixed line operator’s branch in the Crimean city, the group announced on its website. As previously reported by CommsUpdate, Ukrtelecom has shut down fixed line long-distance and internet/data services in the city, under what the telco called an illegal inventory of its network assets by the Sevastopol authorities, which apparently intend to transfer ownership of certain infrastructure including cable ducts to a third party (Sevastopol Telecom), via a recently issued local government decree.
