Wi-Manx applies for full telecoms licence

24 Sep 2014

Isle of Man-based Wi-Manx has announced that it has submitted an application for a full telecoms licence. In revealing the development, Wi-Manx noted that with it currently providing services under an internet service provider (ISP) licence, if it succeeds in acquiring the new concession it ‘would look to extend [its] communications product portfolio and continue to deliver the best possible service to [its] customers’. As part of the process the Isle of Man Communications Commission will shortly launch a 30-day public consultation relating to the licence application.

Should the company succeed in its bid to expand the scope of its licence, it has highlighted a number of benefits it expects to deliver to its customers, noting that an upgraded concession would give it ‘the freedom to deliver a range of next generation communication solutions’.
