UPC Ireland launches free Wi-Fi service ‘Horizon Wi-Free’

22 Sep 2014

Irish cableco UPC Ireland has rolled out its new ‘Horizon Wi-Free’ service in the Republic, offering its broadband subscribers access to a network of over 200,000 Wi-Fi hotspots across the country. The company says the new service is free of charge and allows customers to access fibre-powered broadband in the homes of other UPC broadband users. It is continuing to roll out the network to provide nationwide coverage, meaning that UPC customers will have more options to stay connected, it said. The full service launch follows a successful trial in January this year involving 9,000 people; the test reported 85% satisfaction with the new service.
