Mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) Tesco Mobile Ireland has revealed that it added a net 50,000 new customers over the past year, and now has more than 250,000 customers. According to the company, which cites data supplied by market regulator ComReg, the MVNO has also boosted its market share slightly over the same period, from 4.3% to 5.0%. Tesco Mobile Ireland managing director, Elaine Russell, said: ‘Reaching our 250,000th customer is a real milestone for Tesco Mobile and is a clear indication that the brand is gaining confidence and momentum in Ireland,’ adding that the company, which has opened 13 dedicated phone shops in Tesco stores over the past twelve months, is looking to open more shops across the Republic by the year-end. The MVNO is a joint venture between Tesco and H3G Ireland, which trades as 3.
