AIS fixed broadband budget set at USD144m

Thailand’s largest mobile operator Advanced Info Service (AIS) has set an initial budget for its upcoming fixed broadband service launch of THB4.6 billion (USD144 million), of which THB1 billion is earmarked for the first year, the SingTel-backed firm disclosed to the securities regulator, Telecomasia reports. AIS projects signing up 80,000 fixed broadband users in the first year. By AIS’ calculations, Thailand’s fixed broadband market is currently worth around THB56 billion.
