Turkcell has revealed that its German mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) subsidiary Turkcell Europe has signed an agreement with a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom (DT) which will modify a current wholesale traffic purchase deal to a marketing partnership deal. The pair signed a five-year wireless wholesale contract in October 2010 and Turkcell Europe went on to launch MVNO services over DT’s network in early April 2011, aiming its services at the roughly 3.5 million ex-pat Turks. According to a company statement, Turkcell Europe’s subscribers will be transferred to DT’s subsidiary on 15 January 2015, under the new business model. The marketing partnership deal will not have a significant impact on Turkcell’s consolidated financials, the statement added.
