Croatian regulator HAKOM has given permission to integrated mobile and fixed telecoms group VIPnet (including B.net) to acquire a local cable TV network operator, Dastin. The target company was founded in 1992 and operates a cable network in Bjelovar. HAKOM stated that the acquisition did not require specific competition scrutiny as Dastin’s turnover was less than a threshold of HRK100 million (USD17.3 million). Telekom Austria-backed VIPnet is Croatia’s second largest mobile operator and has been building up its fixed network and multi-play service presence since completing the 100% takeover of cableco B.net in 2011, adding several other subsidiaries including OKI (Zagreb), Metronet Home (Zagreb and Dubrovnik), KTS (Sibenik), Antena CATV and satellite pay-TV operator Digi TV.
