Aftel connects Zabul with fibre, mobile networks

Afghan Telecom (Aftel) has inaugurated its Salaam-branded 2G and 3G mobile services in Zabul province, the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MCIT) has announced. The state-backed telco also connected the region to the national fibre-optic backbone network, with a spur running through Kandahar province. At the inauguration ceremony, ICT minister Amirzai Sangin said that the citizens of Zabul will now have access to better ICT and internet services at reasonable prices, adding that the MCIT will be paying close attention to the region to ensure that the population is able to get the most from the increase in connectivity.
