TCT to increase its bandwidth capacity

Telecommunication Company of Tehran (TCT, a division of national operator Telecommunication Company of Iran [TCI]), the leading fixed line broadband provider in the province of Tehran, has reportedly revealed plans to increase its bandwidth capacity ‘to 600GB’ in order to meet increased demand from users, Iranian website WiMAX News reports. According to the article, the Iranian internet service provider (ISP) invested IRR246 billion (USD9.27 million) in its network infrastructure in the capital and its surrounds in the twelve months to March 2014, and now plans to up the investment to IRR311 billion by March 2015. Further, in 2013 TCT deployed 780km of fibre-optic cabling in the province of Tehran, an increase of 20% year-on-year. TCT is one of 30 regional telco divisions currently listed on TCI’s website.
