Mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs) piggybacking on China Unicom’s network signed up 200,000 subscribers in their first month of service, MVNO Dynamics reports. The operator is working with 25 MVNOs, twelve of which began offering services in the second half of May 2014. Responding to a question during China Unicom’s Q2 earnings call, an unnamed official claimed that it was leading the pack in terms of its work with MVNOs, adding that the company was facing ‘more opportunities than challenges’. The official went on: ‘We really hope that through the MVNO business innovation and brand innovation, we can further drive our business development in a positive way.’
