Brazil’s Net Servicos tests 500Mbps broadband on coaxial network, paper says

13 Aug 2014

Brazilian cable TV and broadband operator Net Servicos has reportedly started testing speeds of 500Mbps on its hybrid fibre coaxial network, according to Telecompaper citing its director of marketing, Marcio Carvalho, in an interview with Teletime. The operator is said to be using DOCSIS3.0 technology capable of delivering peak speeds of up to 640Mbps using modems with 16 RF carriers. According to the paper, 500Mbps speeds are currently available commercially from Net, but only for users connected via its fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network, provided they also have a suitable modem for connection via fibre.
