Netia picks Arris to deploy new router technology

12 Aug 2014

The Polish telco Netia has contracted Arris to deploy its E6000 Converged Edge Router (CER) to help improve the delivery of high speed internet and TV services. The E6000 CER is based on the Converged Cable Access Platform (CCAP) specification which enables operators to optimise internet protocol (IP) content delivery and to deploy technologies such as DOCSIS and PacketCable. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, Netia entered Poland’s fixed line market in 1990 under the banner RP Telekom, and today is one of the country’s leading alternative telcos, providing services over its own national fibre-optic backbone, which connects all the largest cities. It operates local access networks based on copper, Ethernet LAN/fibre and WiMAX infrastructure.
