Bulgarian mobile operator Max (previously Max Telecom) has announced that its Long Term Evolution (LTE) network has been expanded to cover Pleven, the third largest city in Northern Bulgaria. According to a press release, subscribers in the city could now benefit from theoretical download speeds of up to 75Mbps over the network. The new development is part of Max’s objectives to achieve 50% coverage of the urban population in Bulgaria by the end of 2014; the LTE network is currently available in Sofia, Bansko, Stara Zagora, Sliven and Ruse.
Maria Toycheva, chief marketing officer at Max, said: ‘The launch of 4G LTE in Pleven is a crucial step which showcases Max’s plans for steady growth. Our goal is to achieve 50% coverage of the urban population in the country by the end of the year. We believe that 4G LTE is the future of mobile internet and users in Bulgaria will appreciate our modern services.’
