Telecom Italia stages LTE-A trial in Turin

Telecom Italia Mobile (TIM) has staged its inaugural Long Term Evolution Advanced (LTE-A) trial in Turin, achieving downlink transmission speeds of up to 180Mbps. The trial network, which has been developed in conjunction with Huawei, Ericsson and Qualcomm Technologies, will remain active until 31 July. TIM notes that the superior speeds have been achieved via the aggregation of frequencies in the 1800MHz and 2600MHz bands.
