Turk Telekom (TT) has reported revenues of TRY3.30 billion (USD1.55 billion) for the three months ended 30 June 2014, down 1.3% from TRY3.343 billion generated in the corresponding period one year earlier. TT’s EBITDA for the second quarter edged up 0.1% from TRY1.252 billion to TRY1.253 billion year-on-year, while the company reported operating profit of TRY783 million for the quarter under review, down 3.4% from TRY811 million in 2Q13. CAPEX for April–June decreased from TRY471 million to TRY298 million, a decline of 36.8% y-o-y.
In operational terms, TT’s broadband customer base rose 4.3% to 7.4 million by 1 July 2014, of whom 693,000 are said to be fibre-optic subscribers. By contrast, fixed PSTN lines dropped from 13.9 million to 13.4 million on an annualised basis. Meanwhile, mobile unit Avea saw its mobile subscriber base grow 13.6% to 15.8 million in the twelve months ended 30 June. At that date 7.8 million customers were on pre-paid plans.
