Conatel approves passive infrastructure sharing amendments

14 Jul 2014

Ecuadorian telecoms regulator Conatel has approved amendments to the Rules of Access and Use of Shared Physical Infrastructure telecommunications, aiming to establish a process for operators to share passive infrastructure and optimise resources in network deployment, Telesemana reports. Following public hearings on draft technical standards for network installation, the regulator has standardised processes and technical criteria for routing, identification and management of overhead cables on a national basis. Operators not complying with the policy will be subject to sanctions.
