Turkcell, Ericsson and Qualcomm Technologies have successfully initiated what has been described as the world’s first live three-carrier high-speed downlink packet access (3C-HSDPA) demonstration on a commercial network. The trial saw the trio notch downlink speeds of 63Mbps, with uplink speeds of 11.5Mbps. The test was conducted on a smartphone powered by a Qualcomm processor with an integrated Qualcomm modem. Ericsson supplied the core network and radio access network nodes, while Turkcell provided the 2100MHz spectrum.
