UK-backed UPC Cablecom has taken over the fibre-optic network of Tele-Pregny-Chambesy, purchasing the 75% stake it did not already own from the municipality of Pregny-Chambesy and three unnamed private shareholders for an undisclosed sum. Municipal councillor Phillipe Schwarm commented on the deal, noting: ‘Our cable network is now in the hands of professionals who are in a position to develop it further, under the best possible conditions. The future of our cable network has been secured by the sale.’ Cablecom added that customers will be unaffected by the deal, as the provider already offers a full suite of services in the Geneva-canton municipality.
