Mobile operator Vodafone Czech Republic has reportedly launched a test of its Long Term Evolution (LTE) network in the 800MHz band via seven base stations in the area of Velka Bites and environs. According to Telecompaper which does not cite its sources, during the trials Vodafone CR users who have an LTE SIM card and a device supporting LTE-800 technology can try out the service. The cellco’s 4G network in the 800MHz band is expected to support peak theoretical speeds of 75Mbps, with average throughput at 20Mbps-30Mbps. Vodafone CR launched its 900/1800MHz network last year under the banner ‘Turbo Internet’ which now serves 56% of the territory where 82% of the population lives.
