Bahraini wireless broadband operator Menatelecom has given a free package upgrade to all its WiMAX-based customers, boosting their monthly data volume threshold by between 2GB and 40GB at no additional cost, while lower-speed package subscribers (on 512kbps-704kbps downlink) received a free speed upgrade to 1Mbps. A spokesperson for Menatelecom, which has been operating TD-LTE wireless broadband services alongside its WiMAX network since November 2013, stated: ‘[WiMAX continues] to serve a significant portion of broadband subscribers in Bahrain and for those who have been with Menatelecom from [the launch of WiMAX in November 2008] this new offering is in appreciation of the loyalty and the trust that they have demonstrated as making Menatelecom their provider of choice.’
