PTS studies feasibility of 450MHz future use

4 Jun 2014

The Swedish Post & Telecom Agency (Post & Telestyrelsen, PTS) has conducted a feasibility study on the appropriate future use of the 450MHz wireless band, the licensed blocks within which are due to expire in 2020. External stakeholders have the opportunity to comment on the feasibility study report, which is available on the watchdog’s website. PTS’s analysis concluded that the current usages in the band 450MHz-470MHz should be allowed to continue – these are private mobile radio (PMR) and maritime radio alongside a block that is currently used for mobile broadband and telephony services with wide geographical coverage across Sweden (referring to CDMA-based operator Net 1 Sweden). PTS proposes to continue to allocate the band in the same block size, i.e. 2×5MHz, which is in line with current international standardisation.
