Greek alternative triple-play broadband operator Hellas Online (HOL) has posted a 24.3% year-on-year fall in EBITDA for the first quarter of 2014, with the figure dropping to EUR13.4 million (USD18.24 million) from EUR17.7 million, which it blamed on higher operating costs alongside price competition and continuing economic hardship in Greece. The prevailing market conditions drove HOL’s revenue in the three months ended 31 March 2014 downwards by 3.2% y-o-y to EUR54.7 million. The altnet reported a 6.3% increase in total subscribers based on local loop unbundling (LLU), including fixed voice, broadband internet and IPTV, taking the overall figure to 527,284 at the end of Q1 2014.
