2 Jun 2014

US Cellular will pay USD91.5 million for spectrum and cell towers from Airadigm Communications, which will pave the way for the shutdown of the latter’s AirFire Mobile wireless network. According to Fierce Wireless, which cites a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), US Cellular will acquire spectrum and tower assets in selected markets in Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota and Michigan. The deal is expected to close during the third quarter of 2014. The Airadigm assets US Cellular is not buying ‘will be sold or otherwise disposed of,’ the company noted.
