NTT DOCOMO deploys Alca-Lu’s IP platform

2 Jun 2014

Japanese telecoms giant NTT DOCOMO has selected Paris-based equipment vendor Alcatel-Lucent to deploy internet protocol (IP) technology in order to meet the rapidly increasing demand for mobile broadband services. According to a joint press release, NTT DOCOMO will utilise Alcatel-Lucent’s 7450 Ethernet Service Switch (ESS) as part of its system, greatly enhancing the speed and capacity of its backhaul network. Alca-Lu’s ESS combines 100Gbps Ethernet technology with advanced Quality of Service (QoS) functionality and high-speed switch technology. The equipment is being delivered through Fujitsu as an Alcatel-Lucent channel partner.
