Croatia’s dominant telecoms company T-Hrvatski Telekom (T-HT) has announced that it has been forced to increase its mobile end-user tariffs in response to the government’s decision to triple the annual mobile spectrum usage fees. The operator says that the decision means that it will now have to pay HRK138 million (USD24.8 million) more annually, and as this direct increase in costs will have a ‘negative effect’ on its investment plans, T-HT ‘has no other option but to adjust its price policy’. With respect to this, from July 2014 HT will increase its prices for pre-paid customers by 10% of the voucher amount, while tariffs for post-paid customers will rise by HRK8 plus VAT on a monthly basis.
