Belgium’s Mobistar has revealed that it will terminate its mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) agreement with Colruyt on 2 July 2014, as the latter is ending its service. However, Mobistar has confirmed that, in order to ensure continuity of service for customers, it will take on all Colruyt customers from the date that the agreement ends. The two companies initially inked a virtual operator contract in November 2011, with Mobistar saying it had done so with a view to increasing its share in the pre-paid market. However, in announcing this latest development, Mobistar noted that the decision for Colruyt to cease operations had come after it had become clear that the latter ‘has had insufficient impact on the crucial parameters to continue to guarantee the lowest prices with certainty’. Further, it added that the decision to end the MVNO agreement had been made jointly.
