14 May 2014

Net revenue of the Ukrainian incumbent PSTN operator Ukrtelecom reached UAH1.604 billion (USD133 million) in Q1 2014, an increase of UAH43.6 million over the same period in 2013, due to an increase in incoming international transit traffic, the telco reported on its website. Core telecoms operating revenues accounted for most of the total sales figure, or UAH1.591 billion. In the three months ended 31 March 2014 fixed internet and data revenue climbed by UAH21.1 million year-on-year to UAH340.7 million, while Ukrtelecom’s number of broadband subscribers increased by 9,000 in three months to 1,655,500. Group operating costs for Q1 2014 amounted to UAH1.174 billion, or UAH24.1 million less than in 1Q13 due to ‘comprehensive’ efficiency measures, while gross profit improved by UAH9.3 million y-o-y to UAH429.9 million and EBITDA for the first quarter rose by UAH10.4 million to UAH318.6 million. Ukrtelecom, a unit of Ukrainian conglomerate SCM, also serves approximately nine million subscribers of fixed telephony, while it did not release an updated subscriber figure for its 3G mobile subsidiary, TriMob.
