Israel’s Bezeq has revealed in a statement to the local stock exchange that it has contracted Swedish vendor Ericsson for the rollout of a LTE network for its mobile subsidiary Pelephone. While no financial details of the deal were disclosed, Bezeq did reveal that the equipment provided by Ericsson will be LTE Advanced (LTE-A) compatible, with deployment to begin immediately. While the operator still requires 4G suitable spectrum, as well as permission from the local regulator to offer LTE-based connectivity commercially, it has nonetheless said that it expects to have ‘hundreds’ of sites constructed in the cities of Jerusalem and Tel Aviv within three months.
