Hondutel reports net loss of USD5.16m for 1Q14

State-owned telco Empresa Hondurena de Telecomunicaciones (Hondutel) has unveiled its financial results for the three month period ended 31 March 2014, reporting a 28% year-on-year decrease in its net losses, to HNL98.7 million (USD5.16 million), compared to a deficit of HNL138.2 million in 1Q13. According to domestic newspaper La Prensa, during the period under review, Hondutel generated revenues of HNL553.1 million, down 1.6% from HNL562.3 million, while its operating expenses amounted to HNL651.8 million.
