The Bahamian government has appointed a committee of advisers from the public and private sector, headed by former financial secretary Ruth Miller, to provide guidance regarding the liberalisation of the telecoms sector, the Bahamas Weekly writes, citing prime minister Perry Christie. The PM confirmed that the government was looking to introduce a new player to the market, with Bahamas Telecommunications Company’s (BTC’s) exclusivity in the wireless sector having ended at the start of this month. Christie added that cheaper prices for services and improved services were expected to follow the launch of a second player.
