AT&T ramps up 1Gbps fibre coverage with 21 metro areas pinpointed

AT&T has announced plans to expand its 1Gbps ‘GigaPower’ broadband service to around 100 candidate cities and municipalities nationwide, including 21 new major metropolitan areas. The 21 metro area candidates are: Atlanta, Augusta, Charlotte, Chicago, Cleveland, Fort Worth, Fort Lauderdale, Greensboro, Houston, Jacksonville, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami, Nashville, Oakland, Orlando, San Antonio, San Diego, St Louis, San Francisco, and San Jose. Alongside previously announced markets (Austin, Dallas, Raleigh-Durham, Winston-Salem), AT&T has now committed to, or is exploring, a total of 25 metro areas for fibre deployment.
